Leslie began face painting in high school with her great aunt and loved it. Her parents and grandparents had food trucks at the local festivals, so she LOVED those as well.  After graduating from college with a Music Theater Degree, she and her husband, Jonathan, traveled the United States and Canada teaching children’s theatre. Each week they were in a new city (usually a new state) teaching theater to local children. The week culminated in a performance for which the two would paint 60+ children as various characters. Over the weeks the designs became more and more creative and complex. The experience helped to hone Jonathan and Leslie’s creativity and speed.

When Jonathan and Leslie decided they wanted to start a family, they moved back home to Oklahoma. Leslie remembered how much she enjoyed face painting and festivals growing up and thought having a face painting booth at the Oklahoma State Fair might be a good way to earn some extra income. Her husband supportively said “Go for it!” That was in 2005. Since then, this little business has grown to include twelve painters, six balloon twisters, and second booth at the Fair!!

Happy Place Bling was born when Leslie began to sell medical tape on Facebook to other face painters who love making Bling. She included a few of her favorite gems with each order (because who doesn’t like a free gift?!), and soon people were asking to buy the gems as well! Once again, her amazing husband Jonathan said “Go for it!” Not only that, but he built the website!!

Leslie and Jonathan feel truly blessed for the way the Lord has brought them to this place in their lives. He has walked ahead, and every bump and detour has had purpose. They are happy to share this new stage in life with such a wonderful face painting community! Leslie and Jonathan hope that their Happy Place can become your Happy Place!
